In Krasnoyarsk, on the banks of the Yenisei, an eco-action “General cleaning” was held. This is a traditional event of the Krasnoyarsk regional branch of the United Russia party.

This year, the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Secretary of the regional branch of United Russia Mikhail Kotyukov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexey Dodatko, Head of Krasnoyarsk Sergey Vereshchagin, deputies, participants in the preliminary voting, activists of the party project “Clean Country”, city residents tidied up the right bank embankment from Krasnoyarsky Rabochiy Avenue, 184 to the Communal Bridge.

Local residents drew attention to the problem. The place is very popular among the townspeople; in the summer, Krasnoyarsk residents relax here, and they organize boat trips on SUP boards on the channel.

Garbage from picnics and vacationers is becoming a problem. It pollutes the banks of the Yenisei and the forest. In such areas, after the winter period, regular cleaning crews are not enough to maintain order.

“Until September, environmental actions and cleanup work will be held throughout the region – we will clean up the banks of rivers and lakes, popular recreation areas, forest areas and spontaneous landfills,” noted Mikhail Kotyukov.

Participants in the cleanup cleaned up the coastline; there was quite a lot of household garbage, plastic, glass, metal, and rubber tires on the territory. It was sorted on site to be sent for recycling.

“This is a traditional cleanup day within the framework of the party project “Clean Country”, when we want to make the place where we ourselves live a little better and cleaner. There is no particular need to persuade people to take part in the cleanup: these are party activists, and these are the residents of the area. Unfortunately, the garbage that appears is also thrown away by people who have a good rest here. The task of all these subbotniks is not just to clean up, but also to set an example of how not to do it, but how to do it. Let’s take care of our city, which stands on the banks of the wonderful Yenisei River!” emphasized Vitaly Drozdov, chairman of the committee on natural resources and ecology of the Legislative Assembly of the region, regional coordinator of the party project “Clean Country”.

Participants in the cleanup collected more than a hundred bags of garbage, almost all of it will get a second life and go for recycling, said Anastasia Novikova, founder of the Krugovorot environmental center:

“I would like to implement the rules for separate waste collection during cleanup days everywhere – today for the first time we tried such an experience with a large team. We came to a very problematic area, on the one hand, because it is directly adjacent to the water, and on the other hand, simply because there are a lot of vacationers here. For the most part, all garbage is of value – these are the categories of plastic, metal, glass. All this can be recycled and reused in resources, materials, and production.”

Community cleanups will be held until September in different localities, and local party branches in the municipalities of the region will join them.
