A stage before the end of a nightmare season for lighthouse In the Superliga, the ultras used social media to show their opposition to Gică Popescu, the current majority shareholder, and to Vergil Chițac, the mayor of Constanta.

The Fervent group set the tone for the attacks. According to the information, GSP and other factions from Peluza Marină are going to issue statements and are even considering a boycott of the match in the last stage of the play-out, the one with Metaloglobus, scheduled for 20:30 on May 18.

Gică Popescu was harshly criticized for his sporting performances, but also for the administrative side and the appointment of Flavius Stoican after the departure of coach Ianis Zicu. Fans have called for him to resign if he cannot live up to the standards of the champions in the 2022-2023 and 2016-2017 seasons.

The press release from Fervent: “An inert president and newer shareholder with the exchange”

“At the end of a disappointing season, we feel it is necessary to speak about those responsible for the chaos surrounding the Lighthouse and the blocking of projects that this club and this city needed.

Two names: Gheorghe Popescu and Vergil Chițac.

The first of them, an inert president and newer shareholder with the exchange, managed to turn the Lighthouse into a club lacking direction, vision and stability, while the results on the field became only the natural consequence of the administrative chaos.

0 transparency, 0 ownership, 0 credibility. We did not expect results, nor did we ask for them. We expected respect.

Respect to the people who have stayed close to this club regardless of results, distances or conditions. Respect to the supporters who were present when general interest in the Lighthouse had almost completely disappeared. Respect for the idea of the club and the identity this team should represent.

Instead, to protect yourself from the responsibility of a possible failure, you chose a coach rejected even at the second division level, in a move that looked more like an attempt to wash your hands.

The direction for your future is simple: You either live up to the standards of the Lighthouse, or you leave. And if you don't understand the moment of departure yourself, we will make sure that you will be constantly reminded.

The second of them, an expert in promises and delays, continues to treat the Lighthouse stadium project as just a good talking point and not a real priority for the city.

For 2 years constantly there are new deadlines, new postponements, a vicious circle that repeats itself endlessly. There is no real reason, just incompetence at the top of city hall. The lighthouse has been playing for years without a real home, but on an improvisation on the outskirts of town. If you can't get up, at least you have the honor of leaving. This club and this city have endured through better people than you. They will resist even after you”, was the statement of the ultras, posted on their official page.

Farul Constanța had a nightmare season in the Superliga

Farul Constanța started this Super League season with Ianis Zicu as coach. With him on the bench, the “sailors” finished the regular season in 11th place, 5 points away from the playoff spots.

In the play-out, Ianis Zicu left the team, and Gică Popescu appointed Flavius Stoican instead, which generated a conflict with Ciprian Marica, one of the minority shareholders. In the course of this year, Gică Hagi, the main figure of the Constanța project in recent years, gave up the majority of the shares to Gică Popescu because he could not have been appointed Romania's selector.

The arrival of Flavius Stoican did not bring the expected results: 4 matches, two draws (with UTA and FC Botoșani) and two defeats (with FCSB and, most recently, with Oțelul Galați).

The group from the shore of the Black Sea has only one more match to play in the current Super League season, and the “sailors” are not sure of staying in the first league.

At this moment, Farul has 25 points, tied with Petrolul, the team in the play-off places. “Marinarii” will play with Metaloglobus, the already relegated team. Petrolul Ploiești will play at home against those from Oțelul Galati.
