Farul Constanța had a nightmare season in the Superliga
Farul Constanța started this Super League season with Ianis Zicu as coach. With him on the bench, the “sailors” finished the regular season in 11th place, 5 points away from the playoff spots.
In the play-out, Ianis Zicu left the team, and Gică Popescu appointed Flavius Stoican instead, which generated a conflict with Ciprian Marica, one of the minority shareholders. In the course of this year, Gică Hagi, the main figure of the Constanța project in recent years, gave up the majority of the shares to Gică Popescu because he could not have been appointed Romania's selector.
