Fraudsters offer Russians to “speed up” Telegram and other services

17 February 17:40
Against the backdrop of a slowdown in the work of the Telegram messenger, attackers have intensified old deception schemes. They offer users to “speed up the application”, “remove restrictions” or “bypass blocking”. Alexandra Pozharskaya, an expert on the Moshelovka platform, reported this to TASS.

According to her, users are offered to download “special programs” that actually mask phishing links or turn out to be malware.
Such links are distributed through instant messengers, email, comments under news, forums, and also using bots. Sometimes they are posted in the statuses and stories of hacked or purchased accounts.
If a victim installs such a program, scammers gain access to correspondence, banking applications, and confirmation codes. In other cases, the user is asked to enter card details “to activate the service.” All this leads to theft of money, surveillance, blackmail, or the use of the victim’s accounts for droppership.
