Genoa achieved a white draw, 0-0, on Fiorentina's field, in the 36th round of Serie A. Present in the stands, Dan Șucu declared himself excited about the course of his team, which has already ticked off the goal of points in Serie A.
Even though his team did not win, Dan Șucu showed a big smile at the end.
The Rapid boss wanted to emphasize the remarkable progress of the team, which managed to transform itself from a relegation candidate to a solid formation.
Dan Șucu, interview in Italy about Genoa's progress this season: “I'm proud”
“It was a difficult year but we overcame the obstacles. We got more than the 40 points we set ourselves at the start of the season. I am very proud of what I have built in these months!“, declared Dan Șucu according to Il Secolo XIX.
Although the “Griffons” reached the third consecutive match without a goal scored (after the duels with Como, 0-2 and Atalanta, 0-0), Șucu valued the attitude of the players.
“Now we are thinking of strengthening this base, which is already a good one. I repeat, I am very proud of everything that has been achieved. I will do my best to be present at the AC Milan match, I don't want to miss it“, added Dan Şucu.
Genoa currently occupies 14th place, with 41 points, being completely free from the worries of relegation. On the other hand, Fiorentina got the saving grace on May 10th, securing their stay in the top flight after a season where fans were dreaming of the Conference League or the Champions League.
Dan Șucu, owner of Genoa since December 2024
Țucu bought Genoa on December 18, 2024, after the Romanian businessman made a capital increase through which he obtained approximately 77% of the shares of the Italian club.
The amount invested was 40 million euros, money injected directly into the club, through a capital increase. In the official press release from Genoa, a total operation of over 45 million euros appears, but approximately 5 million represented a free capital increase, not money actually paid by Șucu.
In his first season (2024/2025), Genoa finished 13th in Serie A.
