The electronic warfare systems of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation deliberately diverted Ukrainian drones from their targets on Russian territory, as a result of which they ended up in Latvian airspace. This was announced on May 10 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga on the social network X following a telephone conversation with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Brazhe.
Investigations have proven this, the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic department noted.
According to Sibiga, Kyiv is ready to cooperate with the Baltic countries and Finland to prevent such cases, in particular, by involving its specialists for technical cooperation.
“Our goal is maximum security for Latvia, the other Baltic countries and Finland. Firstly, by effectively countering Russian aggression and weakening the Russian military machine. Secondly, by helping to strengthen the protection of the airspace of our friends,” the minister noted.
Recently, drones, probably made in Ukraine, have been spotted in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland. The authorities of these states stated that these drones could have gone astray during attacks on targets on Russian territory.
