If you want to grow a rich harvest, it's time to prepare the beds. And you can do this without a shovel, sweat or back pain.
The first step is to cover the ground in the fall or early spring.
Place cardboard without glossy printing on the future bed. Moisten it with water and add a layer of compost or humus on top. Let it be 5–7 cm. The cardboard will suppress the weeds, and microorganisms will begin to soften the soil from below. After 2-3 weeks you can already sow here.
The second step is to sow tightly and mulch immediately.
Do not leave bare soil between plants. As soon as shoots appear, mulch the rows with mown grass or straw. This will conserve moisture, stop new weeds and feed the soil gradually. No fertilizers will be needed.
The third step is not to touch the ground again.
Avoid loosening and frequent weeding. Plant roots, earthworms and microbes will create the structure themselves. It will be loose, lively, warm. The less you interfere, the faster the soil will start working for you.
This summer you will notice the difference. The garden bed will be clean not because you tore everything out, but because there is simply no room for weeds to grow there. And the harvest will grow earlier.
