Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, during a visit to the capital of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Moscow, can probably convey a “message” from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by the Secretary of State of the Slovak Foreign Ministry Rostislav Hovanec, who was quoted by Marker.sk on May 7.
At the same time, Khovanets did not provide any details regarding the content of the probable “message,” and there is no official confirmation of this information from Ukraine yet.
According to him, it is also possible that Fico will receive from the Russian side a vision of possible ways to end the war. He stressed the importance of contacts with all parties to the conflict and the EU's participation in future peace negotiations.
He added that among some European politicians there is a growing opinion about the need for dialogue with Russia to discuss ending the war.
On the same day, the Financial Times wrote that the European Union was considering potential talks with Putin, according to European Council President António Costa, particularly amid growing frustration with the progress of negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, which US President Donald Trump is now pushing.
