The Kremlin blames Zelensky for not responding to an invitation to meet Putin in Moscow

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the renewed invitation addressed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to travel to Moscow to hold peace talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow, reproached the Ukrainian leader for not responding in any way to it, reported the Russian Interfax news agency, quoted by Ukrainska Pravda.

Responding to a question about Russia's willingness to hold a meeting with Zelensky in the United Arab Emirates, Peskov said the Kremlin is not currently considering any other location for talks besides Moscow.
“For now, we are talking about Moscow. As diplomats say, hypothetical considerations are inappropriate”he said.
The Ukrainian publication recalls that earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sîbiha told European Pravda that Zelenskiy is ready to personally meet with Putin to resolve two key issues in the ongoing peace talks – the territories and future control over the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
Putin's adviser Yuri Ushakov later said that if Zelensky wanted to meet Putin, he should travel to Moscow where he promised his security would be guaranteed.
In September 2025, Putin emphasized that he was willing to meet with Zelensky, but that he was waiting for him in Moscow, not elsewhere.
The invitation was qualified as “unacceptable” by the Ukrainian side.
Zelensky said this invitation is just a way for Putin to avoid direct talks. “Our American partners have informed us that Putin has invited me to Moscow. I think if you want to prevent a meeting, then you should invite me to Moscow”noted the Ukrainian president.
