The Alliance for the Union of Romanians sued the USR president, Dominic Fritz, for disinformation about the party.

The announcement was made on Thursday by AUR's lawyer Silvia Uscov, on the Facebook page.
“The AUR party sued Dominic Fritz for his misinformation. I am a defender of freedom of expression, but there is also a limit that cannot be crossed. We all have opinions, some parties or political figures we like or not, but we cannot affirm that someone has done things that they have not done. Mr. Fritz's disinformation affects not only the party, but also the electorate, as well as democracy in Romania. A speech that does not respect the rights of a political opponent and that would remain unsanctioned means actions by which the rights of Romanian citizens are not respected and which would remain unsanctioned”said the lawyer, in a video message, according to Agerpres.
She revealed that she requested the court to ask AEP if the statement made by the USR leader on Antena 3 CNN related to AUR funding from Moscow is true.
“We requested that the court ask the Permanent Electoral Authority if the statement made to Antena 3 is true or not, as well as Mr. Fritz's interrogation, which, if accepted, means that he must appear before the court to answer our questions. (…) AUR only asked for the symbolic sum of 100 lei, because this trial is not about money, it is about the truth. About the right of the millions of Romanians who support AUR not to be brought before the court neighbors, colleagues, family right manipulated by Moscow. And it is the right of every citizen, regardless of who they vote for, to receive correct information from those who represent them.” she also said.
In an interview with Antena 3 CNN, USR President Dominic Fritz recently stated that AUR is financed from foreign sources, from Moscow.
