“The brain doesn't like fluff.” Neurosurgeon Vlad Ciurea's warning about the popular food loved by Romanians: “I fall like a boulder”

Micii, an extremely popular traditional Romanian dish, should be consumed in moderation, warns renowned neurosurgeon Vlad Ciurea, who draws attention to the effects of food on brain health.

Neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Vlad Ciurea draws attention to the link between nutrition and brain function, claiming that certain traditional Romanian preparations can be too heavy for the body and, implicitly, for the nervous system.

According to the specialist, the brain needs a light diet that does not overload digestion and metabolism. In this context, he warns against the consumption of mititei, one of the most popular dishes in Romania, especially on May 1.

“When we smell them on the grill, we're guided by ancestral instincts. But what's good for the stomach isn't necessarily good for the brain. The brain doesn't like mititas.” said Dr. Ciurea, according to CSID.

How many times a year should you eat small meals?

The doctor recommends limiting fatty, fried or highly processed foods, as well as reducing the consumption of energy drinks, stressing the importance of hydration and a balanced diet for brain health.

According to the doctor, the little ones should be consumed no more than two to three times a year, because their composition is not considered beneficial for nerve cells. Frequent consumption could have negative effects on brain function in the long term.

Dr. Ciurea emphasizes that nutrition directly influences the health of the body: “From food come all the good things that the body needs, but also the bad”.

Another food the neurosurgeon says he eliminated from his diet is the potato. Although he recognizes its nutritional value, he claims to avoid carbohydrates which, in his opinion, do not support brain activity.

“I haven't eaten potatoes for about 10 years”the doctor said in a TV show.

However, nutrition specialists point out that the method of preparation is essential: boiled or baked potatoes can be part of a balanced diet, while fried versions should be avoided.
