Around two years after threatening to end his career, Alexis Beka Beka (24) made his return to professional competition on Wednesday, featuring for RAAL La Louviere in the Belgian Cup in a 2-1 win over KSK Heist.
The French midfielder came on in the 76th minute, playing his first professional game since the incident on September 29, 2023, when he threatened to kill himself, in his home country.

At the time, Beka Beka was a player at Nice and threatened to jump from the Magnan viaduct.
Since then, the footballer has gradually resumed his career, making eight appearances for his youth club SM Caen's reserve team in France's lower divisions at the end of last season.
After the game, coach Fred Taquin praised the young player.
“I'm very happy that he was able to play 20 minutes tonight. It was unexpected, it wasn't supposed to happen so soon. Alexis is a technically superior player. He is able to unlock a situation with a pass or a shot.
When the score is 1-1 with 20 minutes to go and you realize you're in trouble, you introduce some magic onto the pitch.
“It was a risk because he is a more attacking player, but a calculated risk. I think in the last twenty minutes we showed something different.
We were much more enterprising, the opponent's resistance had to give way at any moment and that's what happened. And Alexis was an integral part of the whole process,” the coach said, according to A Bola.
Alexis Beka Beka was transferred by Nice in the summer of 2022, from Lokomotiv Moscow, for the sum of 12 million euros.
