Nicușor Dan, talks with the secretary of the American army: “We remain the most reliable partner of the United States in the Black Sea. Romania is ready to invest more”

President Nicușor Dan announced on Monday evening that he discussed with the Secretary of the US Land Forces, Dan Driscoll, about the strengthening of cooperation in the field of defense and the development of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States.
“I had a discussion with Secretary Dan Driscoll about security issues of common interest and ways to strengthen the sustainable Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States, with an emphasis on defense and the economy,” Nicușor Dan wrote in a post on X.
According to the president, the two sides agreed on the need to intensify cooperation in the defense industry, including in the area of innovation, research and start-ups.
“Romania remains the most reliable partner and ally of the United States in the Black Sea,” he emphasized, adding that Bucharest is ready “to invest more and do more” for its own security and that of its allies.
The head of state also showed that Ukraine's security is “closely linked” to that of Romania, the Republic of Moldova and the entire region, in the context of growing risks in the Black Sea.

Oana Țoiu: “Defense cooperation with the USA is essential for the Eastern Flank”
Separately, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, had a meeting with the American official, according to a post on X.
“I had a productive meeting with the Secretary of the US Army, Dan Driscoll. We discussed ways to strengthen the excellent defense cooperation between Romania and the United States, an essential dimension of the Strategic Partnership,” Țoiu said.
She specified that she informed the American official about “the latest drone incident caused by Russia on the territory of Romania”.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Romania “constantly acts as a reliable and responsible ally” and that the American military presence in the country is “essential for the defense and deterrence posture on the Eastern Flank”.
At the same time, the discussions also covered the economic component, including the acceleration of joint investments and the development of the Romanian-American defense industry. “There is a significant potential for deepening cooperation”, Țoiu said.
