Luis Lauret Rodriguez won the silver for Romania at the World Championships in Norway

Luis Lauret Rodriguez (28 years old) became the second medal in Romania at the World Championships (Norway). The naturalized Cuban won the silver in the style torn in the 110 kg category. Mihaela Cambei had already climbed the podium three times in Norway.
Luis Lauret Rodriguez ended Romania's participation in the World Championships in Forde (Norway) with a silver medal.
The naturalized Cuban competed in the 110 kg category and climbed the second position of the podium to the torn style, thanks to an attempt of 188 kg. He started the contest with 185 kg, a successful attempt, then climbed to 188 kg, weight he lifted to the third attempt. It was only exceeded by Akbar Djuraev (Uzbekistan), he “snatching” 196 kg.
He threw, Luis Lauret Rodriguez missed all three attempts from 213, 217 and 219 kg, so he did not count in the total ranking.
Legitimated at CS Olimpia, Lauret debuted this year for Romania at the Chisinau World Championships, where he won two bronze medals, to the torn style (180 kg) and to Total (390 kg), within the 109 kg category.
Four medals for Romania in Norway
Romania participated in the World Championships with four athletes: Cosmina Pană (cat. 53 kg), Mihaela Cambei (cat. 53 kg), Andreea Cotruța (cat. 63 kg) and Luis Rodriguez (cat. 110 kg), managing to conquer four medals.
Mihaela Cambei won a gold to snatch and two silver medals and totally.
More than 500 athletes from 93 countries participated in the World Championships in Norway, this competition being the first international test in this Olympic cycle leading to Los Angeles 2028.
At the 2023 edition of the World Championships, the delegation of our country had conquered a single medal, thanks to Mihaela Cambei, who climbed to the third step of the podium.
