Putin's participation in G20 summit at Trump golf course in Florida still under consideration, Kremlin says

A decision regarding the possible participation of President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit to be held in the United States in December, to which Russia announced that it was invited, has not yet been taken, the Russian presidency indicated on Thursday, AFP reports, according to Agerpres.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin, quoted by Russian news agencies, indicated on Wednesday that his country had been invited to participate in this summit “at the highest level”.
This year, the United States holds the rotating presidency of the G20, a forum for economic cooperation between the main developed and emerging countries.
The G20 summit is to be held at a golf complex owned by the family of US President Donald Trump in Miami, Florida.
“No such decision has been made yet, but Russia has participated in every summit at the appropriate level,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a press briefing on Thursday.
“As the summit approaches, a decision will be made on the format of our participation,” he added.
The Russian president, targeted by an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes in Ukraine, did not participate in the previous G20 summit, held in Johannesburg in November 2025. Russia was then represented by the economic advisor of the Kremlin, Maksim Oreshkin.
