Resignation at the PSD peak: “I will completely withdraw from political life”

PSD spokesman Lucian Romașcanu announced on Monday night, in a message published on his Facebook page, that he resigns from all the political and administrative functions he has and that he “withdraws from the political life”, in the context in which he will soon take “a dignity that implies maximum integrity and political independence”.
“Dear Buzoians, dear members and supporters of the PSD, at the beginning of July I will start a new stage of my professional life, a dignity that implies maximum integrity and political, administrative, action and total decision,” wrote Romașcanu, in his message.
“Until the taking over of this important dignity I will resign from all political and administrative functions and I will completely withdraw from political life,” he says.
“Any public discussion related to possible public positions honors me but it is not topical. I will come back with a broader message in the very close future,” concluded Romașcanu.
Lucian Romașcanu is also the leader of PSD Buzau, as well as the president of the County Council (CJ) Buzău. He was also Minister of Culture.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and a master's degree (MBA) from the Faculty of Business Administration (Assebus) in Bucharest.
What function will take over Romașcanu
Since July, he will become a member of the Court of European Accounts.
The European Parliament (EP), brought together in a plenary session in Strasbourg, agreed, on April 1, with the appointment of Lucian Romașcanu as a member of the Court of European Accounts (CCE) from Romania, according to a statement sent by the European Parliament.
The MEPs supported his appointment with 437 votes for, 128 against and 92 abstentions. The final decision will be taken by the Member States of the European Union within the Council.
The opinion on is advisory, but there were candidates in the past who withdrew after a negative vote of the Community Legislature.
The Council, after consulting the European Parliament, adopts the list of members established in accordance with the proposals made by each Member State.

The mandate of the current Romanian member of the Court of European Accounts, Viorel Stefan, will expire on June 30, 2025.
The EU Court of Accounts checks that EU funds are collected and used correctly and helps improve EU financial management.
As an external auditor of the European Union, it contributes to the improvement of the EU financial management and plays the role of independent guardian of the financial interests of the citizens of the Union.
The mandate of CCE members is six years, with the possibility of extension.
During their term of office, the members of the Court of Accounts cannot exercise any other professional activity, remunerated or not. When installing in office, they are solemnly committed to comply, during the term of office and after its termination, the obligations imposed by the mandate and, in particular, the obligation of honesty and prudence in accepting, after the conclusion of the mandate, certain functions or advantages.
The appointment of Romașcanu to CCE was recommended by the Commission for Budget Control.
