The Budapest Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday to hold a man who would have tried to organize the assassination of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, writes the Hungarian press.
Last month, the man would have published on the Internet, on a site on a foreign server, an ad for finding the “best paid murderer” to kill Viktor Orban and promised to pay in forint or other currency.
The Hungarian police identified the man and detained, notes News.ro. Subsequently, it was interrogated as a suspect for the preparation of a crime with aggravating circumstances.
The suspect would have recognized the facts.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office of Budapest has requested its arrest “given the danger of recidivism”, and the court will make a decision in this regard soon.
It is not the first case of this kind in Hungary. In June, a court in Tolna decided to arrest a 44 -year -old man who had threatened to “cut the head” to Viktor Orban and kill other public personalities.
In May 2024, an attack was committed on the prime minister of the neighboring Slovakia, Robert Fico, a nationalist like Orban. He survived the attack and accused the opposition of involvement in the assassination attempt.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been in power since 2010, but has been facing the most difficult legislative elections, having for the first time a reducible opponent in the opposition leader, Peter Magyar.
