The head of the microsurgery of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital Vadim Keosyan asked the townspeople carefully handle the grinder. Because of this tool, the number of seasonal injuries increases-summer residents do not follow safety rules and cut their fingers. The doctor told in detail what to do in such a situation.

First of all, you need to stop bleeding.

“To do this, raise the wounded hand above the level of the heart and put a pressing bandage of clean fabric or sterile bandage. If the bleeding does not stop, you can use the tourniquet, but keep in mind that it is difficult to endure a properly applied tourniquet for more than 1 hour, and it is impossible to apply it for 2 hours or more, ”Vadim Keosyan shared.

If you are already going to the hospital, then you do not need to treat the wound. However, this should be done if within 4 hours it was not possible to get to the doctor. Stop bleeding, then treat the wound and skin with hydrogen peroxide, and then with an aqueous solution of chlorhexidine. This will help reduce the likelihood of infection. Then put a sterile bandage on the wound.

If the brush or several fingers are completely cut off, they must be preserved for possible replantation. To do this, you need to wrap them in clean wet fabric, and then put in a plastic bag. It should be placed in the neck up in another bag, in which there will be a mixture of ice/snow and water in a proportion of 1: 1. Next, you need to tie both packages at the same time. You can not put your finger directly on the ice, because there is a risk of frostbite.

“Contact the hospital as soon as possible, preferably for 4-6 hours after the injury. The faster you get to the specialists, the higher the chances of successful replantation of the finger, ”the doctor noted.

Vadim Keosyan recommended to remain calm – to calmly breathe and focus on performing specific actions. This will help save the cut part of the body without serious consequences.

However, you need to be prepared for long -term rehabilitation, which may be needed even after a successful operation. The doctor advised not to neglect physiotherapy and follow the recommendations of doctors.
