Napoli lost on Saturday at home to Lazio, score 0-2, in a match of the 33rd round of Serie A.
This result directly helps Inter, the league leader, who maintains a 12-point gap over second-placed Napoli.
Napoli, another wrong step in the fight for the title
After Napoli drew 1-1 at Parma in the 32nd leg, Antonio Conte's team made another misstep in an attempt to regain distance from Cristi Chivu's Inter.
Lazio started the match perfectly, and in the 6th minute, Matteo Cancellieri opened the scoring. The team from Rome could have increased the difference in the 31st minute, but Mattia Zaccagni missed a penalty kick.
Shortly after the resumption of the second half, in the 57th minute, the same Cancellieri made a decisive pass to Toma Basic, who scored Lazio's second goal, establishing the final result of the game, 0-2.
The result recorded in Napoli is one that brings the Serie A title even closer to Inter, who at this stage prevailed against Cagliari, score 3-0. With only 5 stages left until the end of the season, the distance between the two teams is 12 points. In the next leg, Inter go to the field of Torino, while Napoli receives the visit of Cremonese.
AC Milan, the 3rd place team, can match Napoli if they win at Verona. The match between the two is scheduled for Sunday, in Milan, from 16:00.
