Enough of the idolatry of yourself and money!

– So let's look up! Let's rise from the ruins! Nothing can lock us into a fate that is supposedly already decided, even in this world where it seems that there are no longer enough graves, because life is being crucified and annihilated again and again, without law and without mercy, the Pope appealed.
Leo XIV recalled the words of John Paul II from the time of the war in Iraq
Leo XIV, calling Saint John Paul II “a tireless witness of peace”, recalled his words from March 2003 during the Iraq crisis: “I belong to the generation that lived during World War II and survived it. I have an obligation to tell all young people, younger than me, who have not had this experience behind them: never again war. (…) We must do everything in our power! We know well that there is no peace at any cost. But we all know how great this responsibility is.”
– Tonight I accept his appeal as my own, so timely – declared Leo XIV.
He emphasized: – Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of showing off your strength! Enough war! True strength is revealed in serving life.
He appealed: – Let us therefore unite the moral and spiritual forces of millions, billions of men and women, old and young, who today believe in peace, who choose peace today, who bind up the wounds and repair the damage left by the madness of war.
