Orlen adjusts fuel prices. Gasoline is cheaper, diesel oil is more expensive

According to Orlen's current wholesale price list, the price of Eurosuper 95 petrol is PLN 5,386 per cubic meter, which means a decrease by PLN 29 compared to the previous day.
On the other hand Ekodiesel diesel oil costs PLN 6,810 per cubic m, which is an increase of PLN 7 compared to Thursday.
A day earlier, the company significantly reduced the prices of both fuels. Eurosuper 95 petrol fell by PLN 90 on Thursday, reaching the price of PLN 5,415 per cubic meter, while Ekodiesel diesel oil decreased by PLN 147, to PLN 6,803 per cubic meter.
Maximum prices at gas stations in Poland
In accordance with the government regulatory package “Fuel Prices Lower”, maximum fuel prices will apply at stations across the country from March 31.
On Friday, a liter of unleaded 95 petrol could not cost more than PLN 6.17, unleaded 98 petrol – PLN 6.77, and diesel oil – PLN 7.66. Compared to Thursday, when the maximum prices were PLN 6.27, PLN 6.88 and PLN 7.83 per liter, respectively, declines were recorded.
On the first day of the regulations being in force, i.e. March 31, the maximum fuel prices were: PLN 6.16 per liter of Eurosuper 95 petrol, PLN 6.76 per liter of Eurosuper 98 petrol and PLN 7.60 per liter of diesel oil.

Maximum prices are determined based on the average wholesale price of fuel on the domestic market, plus excise duty, fuel fee, sales margin of PLN 30 per liter and VAT.
The war in the Middle East and its impact on oil prices
The situation on the fuel market is also influenced by geopolitical events. The war in the Middle East that broke out after the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28 resulted in an increase in oil prices on world markets.
On Thursday, contracts for American WTI crude oil for April increased by 5.2%, reaching a price of USD 99.32. per barrel. Brent crude oil for May delivery rose by 2.7% to $97.31. per barrel.

Although in recent days there have been temporary declines in the prices of raw materials in the USA, the ongoing war and related tensions in the region still affect the prices of finished fuels. This, in turn, translates into retail fuel prices at stations in Poland.
