An introductory excursion was held at the Kanskaya Thermal Power Plant for high school students of the Checheul Secondary School. 11 high school students who are in the process of choosing a profession saw with their own eyes how the largest heat source in the city of Kansk works.

The guys were met and given a tour by Vyacheslav Malashonok, an engineer for setting up and testing power equipment of the production and technical department (PTO).

The specialist told and showed the schoolchildren how the plant produces heat and electricity, explained in detail the principles of operation of the power units and immersed them in the history of the station, which dates back to 1953. Today, the Kanskaya CHPP provides heat to 96% of Kansk residents. In 2025, the station generated 140 thousand kWh of electrical energy and 614 thousand Gcal of heat. It is the stable and reliable operation of the enterprise that provides comfort in the homes of Kansk residents and helps improve the city’s ecology.

Since 2020, the eastern capital of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has been undergoing a large-scale renovation of the heat supply system, investments in which have already exceeded 1.3 billion rubles. During this time, 11 non-environmentally friendly boiler houses were closed in the city, the load of which was taken over by thermal power plants and new automated facilities. This made it possible to reduce emissions by 1,500 tons per year. Employees of the Kanskaya Thermal Power Plant told schoolchildren about all this.

During the excursion, special attention was paid to the opportunities offered by working in the energy sector. Corporate training and a mentoring system allow young specialists to immerse themselves in the profession as quickly as possible and become high-class professionals.

The general impression that the high school students shared after the excursion was a powerful sense of unity, responsibility and strength that unites all plant employees and the importance of the work that power engineers do. As the guys admitted, visiting the Kanskaya Thermal Power Plant became for them an immersion into the wonderful world of energy, which not only expanded their knowledge, but also inspired them to choose a profession in one of the strategic sectors of the economy.

It should be noted that the formation of interest in engineering and blue-collar professions is a separate area of ​​systematic work of the SGC and the Melnichenko Foundation. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, such projects for schoolchildren and students as “Profclasses.FM”, “Professional Teams FM” are being implemented. As part of the federal project “Professionality”, SGK and the Melnichenko Foundation, together with the Ministry of Education of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, opened in 2022 an educational cluster of the fuel and energy complex on the basis of colleges in the region.
