The alliance for the Union of Romanians (gold) argues that the presidential poll that takes place abroad is marked by irregularities that could cause some of the Romanians in the diaspora to vote, due to the insufficient number of ballots. Two days ago, MAE had stated that it was “statistically impossible” for the bulletins to be too few.

According to information in the centralized gold polling stations, there are two major problems that can affect the good progress of the electoral process.

“First of all, the addresses of the polling stations were changed without prior announcement-the Romanians appeared at the known addresses, where they voted in the past, just to find out that the sections were moved to other locations, sometimes tens of kilometers away. No official announcement was communicated in a timely manner,” says in a gold statement.

Secondly, gold claims that the polling stations from abroad were not distributed a sufficient number of ballots which, under the conditions of a large presence in the ballot box, could lead to the situation in which some voters can no longer vote.

“In several sections in countries such as Spain, Italy, Germany or the United Kingdom, there is a risk that hundreds of thousands of Romanians will not vote, and the logistics supplementation becomes impossible. It is inadmissible as in an electoral process essential for the future of Romania, the authorities of the Romanian state-especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Electoral Authority and the Central Electoral bad faith the fundamental voting right of the Romanians from the diaspora ”, the statement said.

Two days ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the institution responsible for organizing voting abroad, had excluded the number of ballots not to be sufficient.

“Any statements regarding potential insufficiency of voting bulletins abroad are false and represent an attempt to handle voters. There are sufficient bulletins. 3,600,000 ballots have already reached the abroad sections. It is statistically impossible to be exhausted. Even if, exceptionally and unprecedented. To ask, with the agreement of the Electoral Bureau for abroad, the redistribution of bulletins from less requested sections ”, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Until the time of transmitting this news, over 234,000 Romanians had voted in the abroad sections.
