A French man survived four assassination attempts by his girlfriend and her mother. “Breaking Bad”, one of the sources of inspiration for women

A woman and her mother were sentenced, on Friday, to 20 years and 15 years in prison respectively by the Vendée jury for trying to poison the young woman's boyfriend on several occasions, reports AFP.

The latter was also found guilty of another attempted murder for loosening the brakes on her partner's car, who was a civil party in the process.

The prosecution sought 20 years in prison for both accused, aged 62 and 37, citing “a criminal design worthy of a movie script” as well as “their will to kill”.

The first poisoning of the man took place in 2021. Amélie D., the daughter, admitted that she served her partner, Enrique B., a cup of coffee in which 30 tablets of alprazolam, a strong anxiolytic, had been poured. Carole D., the mother, admitted that she crushed the pills. Enrique B. did not remember anything that happened that day.

“Tingles in the mouth” sensation

Then they used omag, a toxic plant, sprinkled in a plate of chili con carne. Enrique B. remembers feeling “tingling in the mouth” and chills from the first few sips. The man reported that on that day he thought he was going to die.

Finally, they used ricin, a toxin extracted from the castor plant, for which there is no antidote. The poison was placed in a bag of tobacco and one of olives, which Enrique B. did not get to consume.

Amélie D. admitted, during the investigation, that she was inspired by several TV series: the homage from an episode of the “You” series, and the ricin from a scene from “Breaking Bad”. Both she and her mother admitted their wrongdoing.

Amélie D and Enrique B. were a couple for more than a decade until 2023, when the investigation began, during which both claimed to have been victims of domestic violence.

The woman, a car painter by trade, said she was working in an environment with predominantly male colleagues, which caused “excessive jealousy” from her partner. On the other hand, she was characterized as “jealous” and “possessive”.

Carole D. stated that she wanted to help her daughter so that she would be “quiet.” The man claimed that his ex-girlfriend was trying to get the house they had bought together near La Roche-sur-Yon.
