A Greek citizen was stopped upon entering Romania at the wheel of a luxury Range Rover wanted by Belgian authorities. The car, valued at approximately 40,000 euros, was detained by the border police in Timiș.

Border police officers from Timiș County discovered a luxury car wanted by the Belgian authorities at the Moravița Border Crossing Point. The incident took place on March 21, around 11:00 a.m., when a 51-year-old Greek citizen presented himself to complete the entry formalities in Romania at the wheel of a Range Rover registered in Greece.

Following the checks carried out by the law enforcement officers, suspicions arose regarding the origin of the car. The car was listed in international databases as being wanted for confiscation, the alert being issued by the Belgian authorities, according to a statement from the Border Police.

The car, valued at approximately 40,000 euros (the equivalent of approximately 200,000 lei), was detained and taken to the headquarters of the Moravița Border Police Sector for further investigations.

The investigation is ongoing and the authorities are conducting checks for the crime of concealment. In parallel, the law enforcement officers will take all the necessary legal measures in this case.
