After more than three years of war, while peace negotiations remain blocked, Russia has intensified its attacks on civilians. Ukrainian cities are increasingly vulnerable despite the extensive efforts of anti-aircraft defense, a reality that Kiev has lived again during this night attack, one of the most bloody lately.

The survival of the young woman, whom the Ukrainian media presents under the name of Veronica, 23 years old, surprised even the most experienced workers in emergency services.

The explosion was so strong that he threw it, with a bed, directly on the window of his apartment on the ninth floor. He landed outside the building with a broken leg, a brain concussion, a missing tooth and a severe shock. Doctors consider her survival as “a real miracle”.

“I heard an explosion and, a second later, I was on the ground,” she said for the Ukrainian television station 1+1. She assumes that the bed saved her from the fall, mitigating the terrible impact with the soil.

The director of the hospital where she was admitted, Serhii Dubrov, told Reuters: “It is extraordinary. To fall from the new floor and choose only with relatively minor wounds … but it is in a deep state of psychological shock and still does not know what happened to her parents.”

Both parents of the girl lost their lives, their bodies being recovered under the ruins of the tower block, partially destroyed by the Russian rocket, according to the information confirmed on Friday.

According to the Ukrainian media, the balance of the Russian attack from Wednesday night to Kiev is 31 dead, 28 in the block where Veronica lived. Among the victims are five children, of whom the youngest was only two years old. Another 160 other people were injured, including 16 children.
