Nicușor Dan criticizes Hungary's blockade regarding support for Ukraine: “It's unacceptable”

President Nicușor Dan declared that “is unacceptable” as a decision already taken on supporting Ukraine “to be called into question on a subsequent event”, referring to the time when Hungary blocked the loan of 90 billion euros intended for Kiev.

Nicusor Dan stated, after the meeting of the European Council, that he maintains his statements regarding Hungary's blocking of support for Ukraine.
“I still maintain what I said, and many people said today, in the debate that took place on the topic of Ukraine, that it is unacceptable that a decision already taken is called into question on a subsequent event, regardless of what this event is, because you know well what is the point of view of Ukraine.
Now, on the one hand, the Union has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, from a procedural point of view, a team, precisely to resolve this dispute, a team of people from the European Commission and some member states are on the spot to assess the damage to the pipeline, and there is a promise that, the moment the oil starts circulating again, the loan is unlocked, that's the situation. So we expect that in one month, from this moment, the money will reach Ukraine”, he stated.
Regarding Romania's stakes for the NATO Summit in Ankara, the head of state showed that Romania's main objective at the NATO summit is strengthening the Eastern Flank.
“You know that it was in December, in Finland, we had a kind of B9, but related to the Union, and not to NATO.
Our interests are like the Eastern Flank of NATOor of the Union, to be as defended as possible, so that as many capabilities and possibilities of interconnection, of mutual aid, are available for Romania and for the countries of the Eastern Flank. I think that this is Romania's big stake, which is easy to understand”.
It also says the standoff between Hungary and Ukraine raised a wider issue in the EU.
“Of course, in the context of the discussion on Hungary-Ukraine, the way in which the Union takes decisions and what we do in the situation where a state blocks a will of the Union to behave in a certain situation was also discussed, but it was only the beginning of a discussion which, of course, is very complicated, because renouncing unanimity involves a matter of sovereignty and sovereignty is always a complicated matter”. he mentioned.
Hungary, which is blocking a European loan worth 90 billion euros intended for Ukraine, will not give in until Kiev restores the supply of Russian oil to Budapest through the Drujba pipeline, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban reiterated on Thursday, according to AFP.
