Merz has a direct message for the US about the war against Iran: No problem

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday that Germany will not participate in the American-Israeli war against Iran, reports Reuters.
“We do not have the mandate from the United Nations, the European Union or NATO, as required by the basic law. Therefore, it was clear from the beginning that this war is not a NATO matter,” Merz said at a press conference in Berlin.
“The United States of America and Israel did not consult us before this war. Regarding Iran, there was never a joint decision on this matter. Therefore, there is no question of how Germany could get involved militarily here,” the federal chancellor added, according to Agerpres.
“This also means that as long as the war continues, we will not participate militarily in guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz either,” Merz said in a joint press conference in Berlin with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
“Like the United States and Israel, we want to end Iran's nuclear and missile programs,” assured Merz, who said the regime of the ayatollahs must be replaced by a democratic government.
He showed that regime change in Iran cannot be achieved through bombing.
The region must not slide into an endless war with unclear objectives, the German chancellor concluded.
