PHOTO Arsenal found at the Calafat customs: a truck with over 100 guns was heading to Germany

More than 100 guns, chargers and tens of thousands of cigarettes were discovered on Friday by the border police in Calafat, after a check on a truck registered in Turkey, the Border Police announced.
It is about 106 pistols, 131 magazines without ammunition and 60,000 cigarettes for which the driver could not present documents of provenance.
“The control took place on March 13 this year, on DN 56, on a road vehicle registered in Turkey, driven by a 38-year-old Turkish citizen, traveling on the Turkey-Germany route. After checking the cargo compartment, the border police found that the seal was broken and re-glued, and several boxes of cigarettes with a Turkish excise stamp were identified inside. Extension control led to the discovery of 106 pistols and 131 magazines, without ammunition,” the Border Police reported on Saturday.
The discovered cigarettes, namely 3,000 packs, have an estimated value of approximately 90,000 lei.
The authorities opened an investigation into non-compliance with the arms and ammunition regime and smuggling.
The discovered goods were removed, and the road assembly was made unavailable.
