A new cultural space has been opened at the Institute of Arts in Krasnoyarsk.

The concert and exhibition hall is located at Mira, 98. The building was built in 1914 as an apartment building for the Spiritual Brotherhood; after the revolution, its premises were occupied by the headquarters of the V Army Division, and then until the 1970s, various institutions were located here. In 1978, the Siberian Institute of Arts was located there. The largest hall with high ceilings was first used as a concert hall. It was here that Dmitry Hvorostovsky took his vocal exams. ZThen, after the commissioning of the main building of the institute, the hall became the studio of the artist Anatoly Znak.

Director of the Dmitry Hvorostovsky Art Development Fund, Honored Artist of Russia Vera Baranova, said that the idea to make the hall a concert hall again appeared last year. It was presented to the regional governor Mikhail Kotyukov, who supported the initiative.

The day before, the space opened with a concert by stars of the world opera stage – Agunda Kulaeva and Alexei Tatarintsev.

“Krasnoyarsk is preparing for its 400th anniversary, and every year we open new cultural spaces: the “Cannon +” stage, the Astafiev National Center, the “In the Center of the World” Gallery, the Center for Spiritual Culture. Work is underway to create the Surikov Center and the Museum Quarter in the Paris Commune,” said Arkady Zinov, Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, at the presentation of the hall.

Rector of the Siberian State Institute of Arts named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky Vladimir Luzan noted that now the hall will be used for public concerts and exhibitions, and they also plan to hold master classes and take exams for students.
