Before the playoffs, Dan Nistor called the “strongest” team in the championship

Dan Nistor (37 years old) commented victory with FCSB, 3-1. If Dinamo does not win on the CFR ground, U Cluj will end the regular season in 3rd place.

In the last stage of the regular season, U Cluj won in Bucharest, 3-1 against FCSB. Dan Nistor also contributed to the success, entering the field in the 58th minute. It was his 503rd top-flight appearance.

After the match, the University midfielder went to the mixed area, where he commented on this success, the situation of the FCSB and launched a jab at the rival from Cluj-Napoca, CFR.

Dan Nistor, after 3-1 with FCSB: “We won without 3-4 basic players”

“It was a tough match. Unfortunately, there weren't many spectators. I think it's also normal, considering the season FCSB had. We're glad we won, I think we fully deserve to be in the play-offs, it was also seen tonight.

Today we played without 3-4 starting players and won 3-1, so we are on the right track and things are good.

There were several opportunities, the score could have been a little higher. It's also hard to put yourself in their shoes. They are used to performance and suddenly finding out where they are is quite difficult.

I think the teams that qualified for the play-offs deserve it. The mistakes were made by them (no – about FCSB), it would not be fair play to talk about them. They know better what they did wrong, in the years to come they won't make these mistakes again”, said Nistor at the mixed area.

He tried to temper the expectations created around “U”:

“It is quite far to think about the title. It is difficult. There are other stronger teams, but there will be 10 finals, 30 points at stake. It will be a fairly contested play-off. We are also qualified for the semi-finals of the Cup, so on the right track. I hope to surpass the place we finished last year. We finished 4th, now I hope to be a little higher.”

While waiting for the play-off, he also opined that “of the teams I played with, [Craiova] it seemed to me the strongest“.

“I would like this, if possible. But we cannot divide the lawns. There are 20 of them, what shall we divide?”
