Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, lost in the first instance the process with the Traffic Police. The FCSB number 1 appealed a decision by law enforcement officials to fine him and suspend his license for 90 days after he was caught driving at 105 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone in May 2025.
A day after that moment the boss admitted to the crime on TV, and then stated that he would have broken the law if he could have also offered another person's driver's license to escape. According to Gigi Becali, he decided to sue the Traffic Police because the police were “tricky” and positioned themselves in an area where the speed limit dropped from 60 km/h to 50 km/h. Romanian law states that when a driver exceeds the limit by more than 50 km/h, his license will be suspended for 90 days.
The decision is not final and may be appealed. Until a final decision, Gigi Becali is allowed to drive.
