The president of PNL, Ilie Bolojan, emphasized the importance of collaboration with airlines to support Romanians in conflict zones. “Our priority is to collaborate with the airlines, so as to evacuate the Romanians from the problem areas. Discussions were held today between the Minister of Transport and the airlines, so that we can see what the problems are. We are focusing on the priority transfer of children and people with health problems“, Bolojan explained, according to Adevărul sources.
Balanced budget and sustained investments
The discussions during the meeting also concerned the preparation of the 2026 budget. “Together with Minister Nazare, we had as our main objective to have a balanced budget, based on correct data, revenues that are not oversized, expenses that are not undersized, so that we avoid the situations of the past years in which we started with a budget that looked good, and in the end it looked bad. We can no longer afford this model. The budget is 99% ready. We also had a round of discussions today. It remained as Wednesday morning to have a new meeting“, added Bolojan.
He also emphasized that a major priority remains reducing the deficit and increasing the investment budget. “Discussions were related to projects financed from the national budget. Another discussion was related to transfers to local budgets. We discussed, in general, that regardless of what is proposed, at the end of the allocation, the revenues of local authorities should be, for all localities, higher than last year“, said the liberal leader.
Minister Nazare: measures for economic growth and social protection
The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, explained that without the measures taken since 2025, the construction of the 6.2% budget would have been impossible. “The measures have effects and help us build the budget today. The priority is PNRR: the amounts are increasing significantly. More than 22 billion lei more than last year”said the minister.
He stated that measures for economic growth and co-financing for several ministries were included in the budget. Regarding the social package requested by the PSD, Nazare mentioned that a reasonable amount, similar to last year's, was accommodated for the pensions of vulnerable people, with a final decision to be made on Wednesday.
Regarding national investments, the minister emphasized that important funds are allocated for PNRR projects and for UAT loans. The budget is expected to be approved next week in the Government and sent to the Parliament.
