You can’t take your eyes off the aruncus – here’s how to care for it so that it remains lush and snow-white all summer long

Arunkus, or Volzhanka, is a large perennial with airy inflorescences that really resemble a white cloud. It is often used in natural style gardens. The plant is unpretentious, but in order for the bush to look thick and decorative all summer, it is important to follow basic care rules.

Arunkus grows best in partial shade. In bright sun the leaves may fade, and in deep shade the flowering will be weaker. The soil needs to be loose and fertile, without stagnant water. Before planting in heavy soil, it is useful to add compost.

The plant loves moisture, but does not tolerate swamps. Watering should be regular, especially at the beginning of summer. In hot weather, it is better to mulch the soil – this way the moisture is retained longer and the roots do not overheat.

Feeding is important for lush flowering. In the spring, nitrogen fertilizers are suitable for foliage growth. During the budding period – potassium and phosphorus. After flowering, the inflorescences can be cut off so that the bush does not waste energy on seeds and maintains a neat appearance longer.

Arunkus is disease resistant, but if it is over-watered, fungal problems are possible. Therefore, the main thing is moderate watering and good air permeability of the soil.

With this care, the bush grows quickly and produces dense “clouds” of flowering every season. And the garden really looks lush and well-groomed without complicated techniques.
