Law enforcement officials do not name the names of the defendants, but according to the people's deputy from European Solidarity, Alexey Goncharenko, we are talking about the commander of logistics of the Armed Forces Command, Andrei Ukrainets, and the head of the SBU department in the Zhytomyr region, Vladimir Kompanichenko.
According to the case, they organized a scheme to misappropriate part of the 1.4 billion UAH allocated for the construction of protective structures at military airfields. The designs did not meet safety requirements, the shelters did not provide adequate protection for the aircraft, and the cost of the work was too high, the investigation concluded.
To stop the checks and hide the embezzlement of funds, officials, according to investigators, organized the transfer of illegal benefits in the amount of about 13 million UAH.
“Internal security officers of the SBU detained both defendants in the red during the transfer of $320 thousand,” the report says.
The defendants are being prepared for suspicion under Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position).
