A knife seller from Nizhny Novgorod will stand trial for deceiving residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and other regions of Russia.
According to law enforcement agencies, in the fall of 2024, a local resident contacted the Achinsk police duty station. She said that she found an advertisement on the Internet for the sale of exclusive handmade knives. The woman contacted the seller and agreed on a deal, after which she transferred payment for the goods in the amount of 29 thousand rubles. However, instead of the ordered knives, she received old glossy magazines in the package, and the seller stopped communicating.
Law enforcement officials identified the attacker; he turned out to be a 31-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod who had no previous convictions. Police officers from Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk went on a business trip and found the man.
“Police investigators found out that the accused did not have a personal workshop for making knives. The photographs of the goods that he placed in the ad were taken on the Internet,” said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In total, five people from different regions of Russia — the Moscow region, Krasnoyarsk, Altai Territory, Sochi and Achinsk — suffered from the attacker’s actions. The total amount of damage amounted to almost 80 thousand rubles.
A case was opened against the man under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. Now the seller of knives from Nizhny Novgorod is under a written undertaking not to leave the place and of proper behavior, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
The investigation into the case has been completed.
