US President Donald Trump has not changed his mind on the global tariff rate of 15%, the US administration is working to raise it, a White House representative said on Tuesday. Contrary to the president's announcements, tariffs of 10, not 15%, came into force on Tuesday.

As a representative of the White House said, quoted, among others, by Reuters, Trump has not changed his mind about the rate of temporary global tariffs he intends to introduce in place of the tariffs found illegal by the US Supreme Court.
Trump on Friday signed an order imposing tariffs of 10%. on goods from around the world, invoking Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. A day later, it announced that it would increase the rate to 15 percent, but has not yet signed the documents implementing this decision. As a result, in accordance with the text of Friday's regulation, customs duties of 10 percent entered into force on Tuesday at midnight (6 a.m. on Wednesday, Polish time).
A White House official told Reuters the administration was working to raise the tariff rate, but did not say when that would happen.
The provision Trump referred to allows for the imposition of global tariffs of up to 15%. for 150 days in response to the balance of payments crisis. Tariffs can only be extended with congressional approval, which is highly unlikely at this point. At the same time, the Ministry of Trade initiated a number of formal proceedings – including: against Brazil and China – which will allow the imposition of new, unlimited tariffs under other provisions.
