The Krasnoyarsk Department of Roads, Improvement and Infrastructure said that they have intensified efforts to clean sidewalks and roads before the cold snap.

Today, February 19, is the last day with above-zero temperatures in Krasnoyarsk, and tomorrow the thermometers will go down. Temperatures are expected to drop to -20°C in the coming days. This means that the melted snow will freeze again.

“We understand that the changeable weather does not give us the opportunity to relax, but we do not give up! The road service is doing everything possible to make it slippery and safe for you to move around the city,” noted the UDIB.

During the day shift, 213 workers and 80 pieces of equipment took to the streets. Particular attention is paid to sidewalks, stops and pedestrian crossings – they are cleared of snow and ice, and where they do not have time to remove them, they are treated with de-icing materials.

The roadway is swept in several stages: first the snow is shoveled to the sides, reagents are used if necessary, then it is swept again. Snow banks are removed using special equipment. Work takes place around the clock, in two shifts.
