BoardingPass, a website specialized in aviation news, warned on Tuesday evening that the weather conditions in Bucharest and the resulting deicing may cause air traffic delays.
“Air traffic from Bucharest is operating in winter conditions, due to the snow. The planes require de-icing before take-off, which will inevitably lead to delays”, BoardingPass wrote on Monday evening.
“So don't fuss and scream too much if your flights are delayed these days… Handy service to those working outside to keep airports 'ON' during this not-so-pleasant weather,” BoardingPass wrote.
Code Orange for heavy snow and blizzard
Bucharest and 12 counties are affected by an orange code of heavy snow and blizzard, which came into force on Tuesday evening, at 20:00, and is valid until Wednesday, at 12:00.
It is “probably the most severe episode of this winter”, said the director of forecasting from ANM, Florinela Georgescu, to Digi24.

ANM does not rule out a possible increase in the level of alert.
“The orange code remains for the 12 counties, including the municipality of Bucharest, but considering the intensity of the phenomena and the area of expansion, we must never rule out that, if the dynamics of the phenomena will require an increase in the degree of alerting, we should not do it,” said the general director of the National Agency for National Statistics, Elena Mateescu, on Antena 3.
