From March 1, changes to the legislation on the treatment of stray animals come into force. The caught dog will be taken to a temporary detention center for 10 days for examination and testing for aggression. Calm individuals will be released back outside after sterilization and marking. Aggressive ones will be left in the shelter for 30 days, and if the owner is not found during this time, the animal will be euthanized. At the same time, starting from March, funds for the lifelong maintenance of dogs will no longer be allocated from the budget.

The organizer of the collection, Olga Amosova, said that six large transfers were received into the accounts – from 50 to 225 thousand rubles. The rest of the amount was collected in small contributions ranging from nine rubles to five thousand.

The money will go towards the construction of dog enclosures, which are currently located at Bereg LLC. Now volunteers need to find another 20-30 million rubles for the building of the shelter itself.

“We believe that we will have time to complete the construction of the shelter and transport all the dogs,” Amosova shared.

Two organizations are currently engaged in catching stray animals in Krasnoyarsk – IP Polyakova and Bereg LLC. Previously, the mayor's office reported that more than a thousand dogs are kept for life.
