A Norwegian athlete threw down his skis and walked off the piste into the forest after losing at the Olympics

The absolute favorite of the tournament, one of the leaders in the overall standings of the 2025/2026 World Cup, Lee McGrath was in the lead after the first race, despite heavy snowfall, which prevented many participants from finishing.

However, in the second attempt the Norwegian missed the goal. Realizing the missed opportunity to win gold, the athlete took off his equipment and went beyond the fence into the forest.

In an interview with reporters, he said that he wanted to dedicate the victory to his deceased grandfather, but made a mistake. The athlete called it the “worst moment” of his career.

As a result, the Swiss athlete Loïc Meillard won the men's slalom at the Olympics. Austrian Fabio Gstrein received silver, and Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen received bronze.
