In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the ex-chief doctor was convicted of buying a fake X-ray machine for 25 million

The Nizhneingashsky district court sentenced the former chief doctor of a local hospital. The woman was found guilty of exceeding her official authority when purchasing equipment for the national project “Healthcare”.

As the prosecutor's office recalled, in 2021, the Nizhneingash Central District Hospital received 25 million rubles for a new stationary X-ray machine under the federal modernization program.

In November, the head physician entered into a contract with Veliy LLC, and in January 2022, the equipment was delivered to the hospital. However, as law enforcement officers later found out, the device turned out to be a counterfeit – legally, it did not have legal registration in Russia, which means it could not be used for diagnostics.

During acceptance, the head of the hospital violated the procedure: she accepted the equipment single-handedly, did not create a commission of five people, and did not conduct a mandatory examination. This is how she managed to curry favor with management and receive a budget subsidy, according to the prosecutor’s office.

“I categorically disagree with the fact that I exceeded my authority. She acted only within the scope of her authority. Moreover, I had no intention,” she said ex-chief physician on trial.

However, she was sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of two years. The X-ray machine has been suspended until the supplier brings it into compliance.
