Lithuania symbolically broke off the USSR. Energy line with the Królewiecki District cut off

The dismantling of power lines that connected Lithuania with the Kingdom of Russia was completed – the Lithuanian Litgrid transmission system operator said. This is a sign of full integration of Lithuania with the continental energy networks of Europe – emphasized the head of Litgrid Rokas Masiulis.

“We completed a symbolic but important process. We dismantled all power lines crossing the border between Lithuania and the Królewiec district,” Litgrid said in a communiqué.

Masiulis cited in it emphasized that “this is not only physical disassembly of the line, but also about the sign of our full integration with the continental energy networks of Europe.”

The dismantling of the entire transmission lines is to be completed in mid -2027. It includes the demolition of three overhead lines with a voltage of 330 kV and three more with a voltage of 110 kV, as well as wires, insulators and supports, ordering the area and release of land from the restrictions of easement.

On February 8, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia disconnected from the Russian IPS/UPS power system, and the day later they successfully combined their power systems with the synchronized zone of continental Europe.

This enables the Baltic States to manage its power systems in close cooperation with other countries of continental Europe, ensuring stable and reliable frequency regulation, thus increasing the energy independence and energy security of the region. Baltic countries have joined the continental network of Europe, serving over 400 million recipients in 26 countries.
