Modern equipment was delivered to the Suwałki Isthmus on Saturday as part of the nationwide Civil Defense and Civil Protection Program (OLiOC). This includes: drones, generators and heavy road equipment.

On Saturday, Podlaskie Voivode Jacek Brzozowski participated in the transfer of civil defense equipment worth PLN 3.26 million in Suwałki.
Thanks to funds from the OLiOC program, the local government purchased, among others: heavy road equipment, power generators, water treatment stations, sand packing machines, tents used in crisis situations, drones and communication means.
The voivode emphasized that this is concrete support and the first step on the way to building a safe Poland and a resilient society. – Civil protection includes specific actions planned in the coming years. In 2026, these will be places of hiding, emergency shelters and shelters, as well as education and continued shopping. We do it systematically, consistently taking into account the region's specifications, said Brzozowski.

The Isthmus of Suwałki is a region that, according to many experts, is considered strategic for the entire NATO. The Isthmus is the area around Suwałki, Augustów, Sejny and the Lithuanian Marijampole, connecting Poland with Lithuania and the other Baltic countries, at the same time separating the Kaliningrad Oblast, which belongs to Russia, from Belarus.
The Mayor of Suwałki, Czesław Renkiewicz, thanked the voivode for the funds provided and said that the purchased equipment would increase the level of safety of residents.
– We placed particular emphasis on the mobility and independence of our resources. The purchase of a backhoe loader, tractor or drones with thermal imaging is an investment in logistics, which is crucial when every minute counts. Equally important are devices providing access to drinking water and a modern communication system, which guarantee our continuity of operation even in the most difficult conditions – added Renkiewicz.
He emphasized that 800 thousand PLN was the cost of devices providing access to drinking water and removing the effects of flooding. For this purpose, a mobile water treatment station, an automatic drinking water packaging machine and a set of efficient submersible pumps and motor pumps were purchased.

In addition to equipment purchases, the program included training for residents on survival in crisis situations and qualified first aid courses. (PAP)
