SATP said that to clean pedestrian areas they will use both mmechanized and manual methods: “Wide sidewalks are cleared by special equipment, but the bulk of the work falls on the shoulders of road workers. There are hundreds of sidewalks in the city; we don’t have the opportunity to clean them all at once, so we carefully plan the cleaning. At the moment, priority is given to areas with high traffic: public transport stops, pedestrian crossings and approaches to social institutions. In addition, we have increased snow removal to prevent it from melting on the roads.”
The Department of Roads and Improvement also reported on the prompt response for weather changes:
“We eliminate slipperiness by cleaning sidewalk surfaces down to the base. And for local elimination of dangerous areas we use sand – only 50-80 grams per square meter. Although this would require a ton of sand for the entire city, we try to apply it where it is needed first. 197 workers and more than 80 special vehicles are involved in the cleaning today – we are doing everything possible to make your walks safe.”
Let us remind you that on Thursday night it will arrive in Krasnoyarsk sudden cold snap of 10 °C or more. Such temperature changes can lead to the formation of ice and create dangerous conditions for pedestrians. Krasnoyarsk residents are asked to report slippery areas that require special attention on the social networks of road services. But they remind you that clearing snow throughout the city takes time.
