PKP Intercity with funds from KPO. Mainly Polish companies will benefit

All these vehicles are intended to serve long-distance connections, i.e. those used by both business passengers and travelers going to the largest cities or tourist centers.
So far PKP Intercity submitted five applications for the payment of funds for a total amount exceeding PLN 1.8 billion. Over PLN 1.48 billion has already been transferred to the carrier's account, which means that over 68% of the funds have been used. available support. The company announced that by the beginning of February 2026 191 modernized wagons and all 56 EU160 electric locomotives that were covered by the project were received. New and refurbished vehicles are gradually entering regular service, improving the comfort and quality of journeys across the country.

The carrier emphasizes that the entire program is implemented in local factories. The modernization of wagons is carried out by, among others, FPS H. Cegielski in Poznań, Pesa in Bydgoszcz and Mińsk Mazowiecki and PKP Intercity Remtrak. In turn, new locomotives are supplied by Newag from Nowy Sącz.

The Polish National Reconstruction Plan includes a total of 57 investments and 54 reforms, and our country can receive approximately PLN 232 billion from it.including over PLN 107 billion in the form of subsidies and nearly PLN 125 billion as preferential loans. The PKP Intercity railway program is one of the largest infrastructure projects financed from these funds.
