Online platform Reddit expects its AI-powered search engine to be central to its future and will refine this area to make answers more complete, the company says. The well-known online forum is visited by an average of 70 million users/day.
“There is a certain type of search that I think we're particularly good at, I'd say the best on the internet, and by that I mean the questions that don't have a single answer, the ones where the answer is a sum of different perspectives from as many people as possible,” says Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, quoted by TechCrunch.
Reddit sees AI-based search as the next big development direction for the company, and it could become an important source of revenue, the official added.
Reddit data shows that the number of weekly searches increased by 30%, from 60 million to 80 million.
The head of Reddit also said that work is being done to modernize the interface of answers generated by AI, tests are being done for some time, and the idea is that the answers will become richer in media resources.
The company had announced in 2025 that it plans to combine its AI-powered search feature, Reddit Answers, with the traditional search engine to improve user experience. Five new languages have also been added and are available on Reddit Answers.
Reddit is an online platform where users discuss in thousands of thematic communities called “subreddits”. Each “subreddit” is dedicated to a topic, and users ask questions or post news, opinions, pictures or links.
