A 22-year-old native of Uzbekistan who caused a fatal accident at the intersection of Lenin and Dictatorship of the Proletariat streets will appear in court in Krasnoyarsk.

It all happened on the night of November 22, 2025. It was established that the guy in his father’s Toyota Prius was driving towards Gorky Street at a speed of 117 km/h.

“Approaching the intersection, the young driver saw a red traffic light, but realized that at full speed he would not have time to brake before the stop line. Instead of stopping, he increased the gas to rush through the intersection, but did not have time to pass before traffic began to move from the side direction. At full speed, his car collided with a Kia Rio, which was driving at the permission signal. As a result, the Kia Rio ran into a metal barrier, and its 41-year-old driver died on the spot from severe injuries,” the prosecutor’s office said.

During the investigation, the Toyota driver admitted guilt and said that he understood the danger of his actions, but arrogantly hoped that he would have time to get through the intersection without consequences.

The prosecutor confirmed the charge against him for violating traffic rules, resulting in the death of a person through negligence (Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This can be punished by forced labor for up to 4 years, or imprisonment for up to 5 years and the right to drive a vehicle. The criminal case will be considered by the Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk.
