On Tuesday, at the District Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski, the district authorities signed a contract with a medical company for the implementation of the “Stop Melanoma” preventive program. The spokesman for the starosty, Janusz Grzesiak, told PAP that an amount of PLN 70,000 was planned for this purpose. zloty. 170 residents over 50 years of age will benefit from the tests. The campaign will last from mid-February to the end of June this year.

The money for this purpose comes from due to the fine, which amounted to nearly PLN 100,000. PLN had to be paid by the PiS election committee. The case concerns an incident that occurred during the 2024 European Parliament election campaign.

Illegal banners are harmful

Election banners of MEP Ryszard Czarnecki (PiS) appeared on protective barriers at road intersections in the Ostrów district. Due to the situation, the then director of the District Road Administration in Ostrów Wielkopolski initiated an explanatory procedure. It turned out that the PiS election committee did not apply for consent in this matter.

PZD assessed fines, and the PiS committee appealed against the decision to the Local Government Appeals Court in Kalisz. The SKO upheld the decision and imposed a fine of PLN 100,000 on the committee. zloty. According to PAP, if consent had been sought, the fees for displaying banners would have been 10 times lower than the fine imposed.

The case was referred to enforcement and sent to the bailiff via the Tax Office.

The silence of a former MEP

PAP failed to contact Ryszard Czarnecki. The politician did not respond to a request for comment.

Ryszard Czarnecki has been an MEP since 2004. He was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in the elections of 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019. Initially, he represented Self-Defense of the Republic of Poland, and then Law and Justice. His last term in the European Parliament ended in 2024.
