Daniel Funeriu was asked, in the Political Insider show, broadcast on Prima TV on Saturday, if he would take a counselor Traian Basescu if he will be elected president, writes News.ro.

“No! He has a decision of security collaborator. Attention! I think Traian Basescu has a lot of competence and I think it is a voice that must be heard and I think he is a man who has shown that he wants the good of Romania. But there are two aspects here. parenthesis.

When I was the Minister of Education and Sport, many told me: “Take Patzaichin counselor!” How to take your counselor idol? Tell him Ivan Patzaichin, either forgiven: “Come to the meeting!” Not!. So you can't take a counselor president. You can, eventually, consult with him. And, with all regret, I say that Traian Basescu has this conviction. You know, politics also operates with symbols. I do not think that, at the level of symbol, it is healthy for a presidential institution … but, of course, you can consult, “explained Daniel Funeriu, on Prima TV.

Daniel Funeriu, a chemist profession, researcher in large university centers in France, USA and Japan, returned to Romania in the mid -2000s.

He applied for the 2007 MEPs on the PLD list, a party detached from the PNL under the leadership of Theodor Stolojan. He was not elected directly, but he still arrived in the European Parliament in December 2008, for half a year, on a residue.

PLD then merged with PD, and Daniel Funeriu joins the new PDL, the political patronage party by Traian Basescu. After the presidential elections of December 2009, won by Traian Basescu, Daniel Funeriu was appointed Minister of Education in the Boc Government.

He resisted until February 2012, when Prime Minister Emil Boc resigned at the pressure of street protests. The Boc government had cut the salaries of the budgets, as a result of the financial crisis that had hit Romania.

Subsequently, Traian Basescu named Daniel Funeriu Presidential counselor in the field of education. At the end of the mandate, Traian Basescu broke the relationship with PDL and created a new political party: PMP.

In the summer of 2014, Daniel Funeriu candidate for the PMP chief, but was defeated by Elena Udrea, the president's favorite. Asked, over the years, if Traian Basescu is disappointed, Daniel Funeriu replied: “I observe people who, as Traian Basescu said, licking the Cotroceniului's plan and now they are great anti-Basic.
