Two Krasnoyarsk ex-traffic cops were convicted of bribes for false technical inspections (video)

In Krasnoyarsk, a court found two former traffic police inspectors guilty of accepting large-scale bribes committed by a group of people prior agreement.

It has been established that in 2022 four Krasnoyarsk entrepreneurs engaged in urban and suburban passenger transportation, offered a traffic policeman and a technical control expert for a monetary reward to help them undergo technical inspection of buses with serious defects, to release them on line. They agreed and the criminal scheme was launched.

“The state inspector and the technical control expert time after time, without checking components and parts, stamped diagnostic cards about the passage of technical inspection of vehicles that did not meet the technical requirements. The state inspector then brought a colleague into the scheme. Over two years of criminal cooperation, they received over 1 million rubles from businessmen,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Pre-trial agreements were concluded with one of the defendants and the entrepreneur; they gave detailed testimony about the circumstances of the crimes committed. “The interaction was planned for a long period,” said the ex-inspector.

For committing crimes under paragraphs. “a,c” part 5 art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court sentenced one of the former traffic cops to 5 years in a maximum security colony with a ban on working in law enforcement for 6 years after release, and to another 5 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 4 years. The equivalent of a bribe confiscated to the state.
